"Paper to Paint"  Workshop

Thursdays - April 18 & 25, 2024.

Day 1- Using magazine images create a collage using the elements of design, value and colour.

Day 2 - Using the medium of your choice (no oils) to  replicate your Day 1 Collage in a painting.

Supply List:

Substrates - 2 same size pieces  - your choice, but not too large

  - Square or rectangle - size i.e.  6" x 6" - 12" x 12"  or  5" x 7" - 10" x 12"

  - WC paper (+ support board & tape) or canvas boards or stretched canvas or illustration or mat board.

Day 1 - Paper (Collage)

- 2 same sized Substrates

- Adhesives: acrylic matte medium or gel or Weldbond

-  gluing brush and container for water.

- Wax paper & paper towels

- Scissors (& tweezers)

- pencil & ruler

- Collage material - magazines (not too shiny) & optional - light weight papers.

  Note:  Instructor will also provide lots of collage material and some matte medium.

  * taking images with your phone as collage develops helps

Day 2 - Paint

- Collage from Day 1

- Substrate - same size as Collage

- Paints - Determined by substrate. Watercolours or acrylics & associated painting materials

- Pencil and ruler

- Coloured pens/markers (Sakura Micron or Staedtler pigment liners or Posca Acrylic Paint Markers)

  Note: Instructor will bring tracing & pencil carbon paper to transfer Paper Collage image to Paint substrate.

* Optional Varnishing of "Paper to Paint"  pieces will be discussed.
