 Judith Livingston will lead you through the basic techniques of watercolour, introduce you to some handy tips and show you some quick tricks as you progress through the 4-week workshop. Composition will be discussed as you select and paint the subject matter all around you.  Supplies are not included.

Bring any supplies you may already have. (Dried tubes are still usable)

 Paints (Tubes or pans or paint sets)  (Please - No Artist Loft paints)

   If individual tubes i.e  -  Da Vinci, Winsor & Newton ...

    - 1 Yellow -  Hansa Yellow or Lemon Yellow

    -  1 Red - Winsor Red or Red Rose Deep  or Cadmium Red

    -  2 Blues  (Phathalo) Thalo Blue  &  French Ultramarine Blue or   Ultramarine Blue (red shade)

    -  1 Burnt Sienna (optional)

 Plus other colours you might like to explore. Paint brands may be combined.

Watercolour Paper

- 140 LB (300gsm) Cold Press (CP) medium texture - Not rough - Not Fluid Paper

  -  9" x 12"  Watercolour Pad

or  Block (more expensive)

or  Individual  22" x 30" sheets cut into 4 (11" x 15") pieces before bringing to class.

            i.e. Lana or Arches or Canson or Strathmore or Cotman ...etc.


- 12" x 16" support for paper (cello-wrapped canvas board works - Dollarama or Art Store)

Masking tape

- off- white - ½" or ¾" (to tape wc paper to board)

 Brushes ( i.e. Gold Sable, synthetic is fine or Sable-Synthetic blend is good) No Bristle Brushes

-   2 Round brushes (comes to a point) - #10 or #12  and  #4 or #6 (i.e. Curry's 2400 series)

-   2 Flat brushes - ½" or ¾"   and  1" Flat (Single stroke) (Curry's 755 or 2402 or other)


- White plastic (preferably with a lid). Plain White styrofoam plates work well as an extra palette.  


- 2 large plastic containers for water (large yogurt ideal - be sure edges are smooth)

- small mister for paints (Dollar Store - Travel Section)

- paper towel or facial tissue - and - old clean towel or tea towel

- B or HB pencil  - and -  kneadable (gray colour) or white plastic eraser

- Small sketchbook will be handy (Dollarama)

- if possible - a large darning needle and wine cork (put point of needle into wine cork)
